Riverdale & Gomorrah

Wow.

Archie goes gay.

From the press release:

"The introduction of Kevin is just about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive. Archie's hometown of Riverdale has always been a safe world for everyone. It just makes sense to have an openly gay character in Archie comic books," said Archie Comics Co-CEO Jon Goldwater in an official press release.

In a story titled "Isn't it Bromantic?" Keller makes waves as the new kid in town by besting Jughead in an eating contest. From there he gains the attention of boy-crazy Veronica, who is crushing so hard that she's ready to leave Archie to Betty. When Jughead points out her interest, Kevin's up front about the fact that he's gay and spends the rest of the issue introducing himself to the rest of the gang while trying to let a clueless Veronica down easy, much to Jughead's amusement.

An advance preview also reveals that Kevin is a burgeoning journalist with a penchant for comic books, meaning Chuck Clayton's Riverdale High press coverage could be set for a serious spike."

Ultrasumo!

With the exception of the oh so forgettable song accompanying it, I quite like this Duracel Ultra commercial (and what a clever way to bump up their bunny iconography).

Seventy Years Bad Luck

L.A.'s mysterious resident The Mirror Man.

How I'd love to see a photo shoot featuring him and Angelyne!

He's Not One-Eyed, He's My Brother

I've never been one to celebrate Earth Day; hard to respect a woman who lets the youngest and most disrespectful of her children slap her around and take the money from her purse without so much as a whimper.

But, as her recent volcanic outburst in Eyjafjallajokull proved, she's had just about enough of us, and we're still not old enough that she can't stop us in our tracks and take us across her knee when deserved.

So, happy Mother's Day Gaea (I say with no paganfemilesbonic intent, this is just an excuse to post the family tree below), and thanks for making us the prettiest of your monsterous brood...

...on the outside at least.

LOST: The Animated Series Project

With the consent of the creators of LOST, artist Michael Myers has sublimely created the character profiles for his imagined LOST animated series - check out the link below if you're a fan, as he's adding to it regularly.

Deep Fried Howard The Duck

My friend Sugs, knowing my mania for plastic surgery addicts/victims, sent me a picture of this not so lovely not so little not so ladylike lady today: her name is Priscilla Caputo - formerly Priscilla Russo - and she's a host, model & actress (remember when "tart" covered the same job description in one syllable?):

- and before you think I'm projecting my dirty mind onto that first pic of hers, I'm sure she's just showing with her fingertips the lips she hopes to have once she finishes having work done on her current flat thin ones.

Kooky Kuky Returns

Blues In The Light

Two utterly charming still life's from photographer Horacio Salinas.

Beauty Is In The Unseeing Eye Of The Beholder

Two images from artist Lisa Murphy's book Tactile Minds, which she created when she realized that the "blind have been left out in a culture saturated with sexual images.”

From the book:

Left image: SATANIC RAM. A tactile picture of a naked voluptuous woman dressed as a Satanic ram. She wears a long cardboard mask of spires, a beard and an inverted cross. Her pubic hair forms a triangle between her legs.

Right image: POSING IN SNAKESKIN SHOES. A tactile picture of a naked woman standing in snakeskin shoes. She wears a plastic bag over her head, with paper cones for eyes. This photograph was taken from a lower angle revealing a vagina shaved bare.

Note that she says sexual, not sexy; though if Charles Manson ever develops a set of cataracts, he'll be in hog heaven!

The Chivalrous Inquisitor

Todays find at P.A.T. (Philly AIDS Thrift); a silver knight/spanish conquistador belt - $15.00.

A bit much for my bargain store tastes, but can you really put a price on love at first sight?

Second Hand Cernunnos & The Squirreliputnian

Sweet mystery of the universe, but for whatever reason I can't surf for more than five minutes of late without running into a totem-esque/animorphic/taxidermy photo.

Neither of these were credited where I found them (the first was, I believe, from a thrift store/boutique), but I thought I'd post them and thus conclude the theme of the last few days...

...for now.

I could kill the photographer/stylist for not stretching that fold out at the base of the bear's neck, but otherwise I've nothing but appreciation for Lise Lefebvre's work.

Fine Feathered Film Stars Of Old Whoo-Whoolywood

Sorry about that tagline, I'm apparently possessed by the head writer of the '60's Batman t.v. series today (as was the uncredited photoshopper).

The actresses are Louise Brooks, Jean Harlow & Clara Bow.
