Beauty Is In The Unseeing Eye Of The Beholder

Two images from artist Lisa Murphy's book Tactile Minds, which she created when she realized that the "blind have been left out in a culture saturated with sexual images.”

From the book:

Left image: SATANIC RAM. A tactile picture of a naked voluptuous woman dressed as a Satanic ram. She wears a long cardboard mask of spires, a beard and an inverted cross. Her pubic hair forms a triangle between her legs.

Right image: POSING IN SNAKESKIN SHOES. A tactile picture of a naked woman standing in snakeskin shoes. She wears a plastic bag over her head, with paper cones for eyes. This photograph was taken from a lower angle revealing a vagina shaved bare.

Note that she says sexual, not sexy; though if Charles Manson ever develops a set of cataracts, he'll be in hog heaven!

Even wonder how cavemen blogged before the internet?

Let's set the Way Back Machine to 15+ years ago...

The Widowmaker

Old Halloween costume.

I was in character; a hitwoman, thus the seriousness.

Though, I also pose this way at weddings, sooo...

...and in an old paper mask I found yesterday while packing.

Because, apparently, I'm exactly the sort of gay who'd have Erte masks falling from the woodwork...

...lordy.

Queen Bee Sextet

Mrs. Pruneface And The One Hundred And Ninety-Nine

I never really got into Dick Tracy as a child.
The back story/mythology was a bit intimidating, I don't like crime drama, and - to be honest - I thought it was a bit old timey.
But I always loved the character design, so imagine my delight when I ran across this!
200 Dick Tracy characters, from 1931 - 1977, compiled by Matt Masterson for the exhibit catalog of a 1978 Chester Gould retrospective at the Museum of Cartoon Art.
